OAK PARK, IL. - State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D- Chicago, issued the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker gave his annual budget address:

“The process of drafting a balanced budget is one of the first steps in creating an equitable and compassionate state that prioritizes the needs of working families. We have taken real steps to address some of the challenges they face on a daily basis so they can thrive. The Healthcare Protection Act, which makes insurance better and more affordable is an example. I look forward to continuing this work with my colleagues in Springfield so everyone, regardless of their race, income, or background can have sufficient healthcare, housing, education, food, and transportation. That starts with introducing and passing legislation that ultimately fights for greater resources and support for our communities that oftentimes get overlooked. Every year, I look forward to going through the governor's proposal line by line to come up with forward-thinking strategies for our state.”
