“Our budget for Illinois represents everything that Washington is not—compassionate and responsible. People deserve to know that their needs are being met and that their wellbeing won’t be sacrificed amid the chaos happening across the country.
That’s why we made $400 million in cuts to government bureaucracy—so we can sustain the crucial services our communities rely on. At the same time, we’re expanding opportunity and access:
-More than 160,000 students will now have the financial support they need to afford college.
-Our medical debt relief program is expanding to ease the burden on working families.
-And we’re investing $5 million to help small grocery stores bring healthy, affordable food to every neighborhood.
We know these steps are just the beginning, but our hope is that they bring a sense of stability and support to Illinoisans during uncertain times.”
“As always, Illinois remains committed to addressing the needs of its citizens."
Gratitude,
Assistant Majority Leader Camille Y. Lilly
