SPRINGFIELD, ILL. - State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, released the following statement regarding the 2025 Fall Veto Session:
“Each time my colleagues and I step into the House chamber, the betterment of all Illinoisans is at the forefront of our minds. That starts with addressing their most pressing challenges, including finding solutions to the insufficiencies being faced by Chicago transit agencies and high electricity prices that are a burden on our working families. We want to address those issues and this fall presents us with a great opportunity to start putting the pieces in place to deliver solutions.
“At the same time, Washington’s unwanted presence in the Chicago area, the reckless and illegal deployment of the National Guard, federal policies, including uncertainty over tariffs, and guardrails put in place by our three branches of government, have created an environment of fear and uncertainty. Regardless of those barriers, I intend to do everything in my power to promote a focus on measures that will restore peace of mind in the midst of the chaos we have seen this summer.”
Together, we will continue working toward an Illinois where every resident can feel secure, supported, and heard.
